2012.04.22 Sunday - Lucca and Pisa

It was too exciting a start to the day when we got to the train station and found that there was a strike!  We were told there would be no trains, so I ran to the bus station that was overwhelmed.  We I got back, we found that the train was running after all.  It is part of the game to disrupt the traveller and make their point.  It was a commuter train - like the GO train in southern Ontario.  With our luggage, we opted for going downstairs - only a few steps, as opposed to going to the upper deck. We got into Lucca, into our hotel and immediately went to catch the bus for Pisa. 

The leaning tower, really does lean and all the pictures do not do it justice.  The duomo is quite spectacular, but the baptistry is the real show stopper.  It too leans, but not so it makes an impression of doing so.  The acoustics are fantastic and are classed among the best in the world.  I climbed up and was rewarded with people making the sssh sound and hearing it travel around and come back.  The octagonal font and altar are impressive.

When we returned to Lucca, we did some exploring, saw a political rally, complete with entertainment and a bike safety clinic for young cyclists with free helmets for the participants.


Fue muy emocionante empezar el día en que llegamos a la estación de tren y encontró que hubo una huelga! Nos dijeron que no habría trenes, así que corrí a la estación de autobuses que estaba abrumado. Nos volví, encontramos que el tren corría después de todo. Es parte del juego para romper el viajero y defender su postura. Era un tren de cercanías - como el tren GO en el sur de Ontario. Con nuestro equipaje, nos decidimos por ir abajo - a sólo unos pasos, en lugar de ir a la cubierta superior. Nos metimos en Lucca, en nuestro hotel y de inmediato fue a coger el autobús de Pisa.

La torre inclinada, en realidad se inclina y todas las fotos no le hacen justicia. El Duomo es muy espectacular, pero el baptisterio es el tapón de la demostración real. Se inclina también, pero no así que tiene una impresión de hacerlo. La acústica es fantástica y se clasifican entre los mejores del mundo. Me subí y fue recompensado con la gente que hace el sonido y la audición sssh que viajar y regresar. La fuente octogonal y el altar son impresionantes.

Cuando volvimos a Lucca, hicimos algo de exploración, vio a un mitin político, con el entretenimiento y una clínica de bicicletas seguridad de los ciclistas jóvenes con cascos gratuitos para los participantes.

Нам сказали, не було б жодних поїздів, тому я побігла до автобусної станції, що був приголомшений. Ми я повернувся, то виявив, що поїзд працює в кінці кінців. Це частина гри зірвати мандрівник і зробити свою точку зору. Це був приміський поїзд - як GO поїзда в південній частині провінції Онтаріо. З нашим багажем, ми віддали перевагу спуститися вниз - всього в декількох кроках, а не ходити у верхній палубі. Ми сіли в Лукка, в нашому готелі і відразу ж відправився ловити автобус Пізі.

Падаюча вежа, дійсно худий і всі фотографії, не роблять цього правосуддя. Домський собор є досить захоплюючою, але баптистерій є реальним пробку шоу. Він теж схиляється, але не так справляє враження це. Акустика фантастична і класифікуються одним з кращих в світі. Я піднявся і був винагороджений з людьми робить SSSH звуку і слуху він подорожувати і повертатися. Восьмикутний шрифту і вівтар вражають.

Коли ми повернулися в Лукка, ми зробили деякий дослідження, побачили політичний мітинг, в комплекті з розвагами та клініки велосипед безпеки для молодих велосипедистів з безкоштовним шоломи для учасників.
