2012.04.15 Sunday Arrivederci Roma, Ciao Sorrento

With our bus to Sorrento leaving at 0700h and needing to be across town to get it, we set our travel alarm, our mobile and our tablet for 0500h.  Let me mention at this point, that the hotel we are staying at stresses that it is an Inn, which to them means that they meet you when you come in give you a key and leave, so there is no front desk or concierge service, which generally suits us fine.  They do provide breakfast which starts at 0700h.  This means there is no one to call you a taxi - and as we don't speak Italian, means we had to make our way to the Metro station and to the Bus Stop.  There was no problem getting to the bus for the 4 hour ride to Sorrento.  The sky was mostly blue and we had some spectacular views of the coastline and cliffs.  We barely made it into our hotel when the heavens opened up!



After we checked-in, we went into town, bought an umbrella, had lunch and wandered around town, went back to the hotel and then went back out for dinner and continued wandering in the rain.

To paraphrase the old saying; when life gives you lemons, you must be in Sorrento.  And, if you are in Sorrento and life gives you lemons, you make Limoncello.  Everything in Sorrento is lemons, from Limoncello to lemon biscotti to a plethora of lemon candies, lemon soap and the list goes on!

Con nuestro autobús a Sorrento que sale a las 0700h y la necesidad de estar en la ciudad para conseguirlo, hemos creado nuestra alarma de viaje, nuestro móvil y nuestra tableta para 0500h. Permítanme mencionar en este punto, que el hotel que se hospeda en las tensiones que se trata de una posada, que para ellos significa que te encuentras cuando entras te dan una llave y salir, así que no hay recepción o servicio de conserjería, que por lo general nos viene bien. Te dan el desayuno, que comienza a las 0700h. Esto significa que no hay nadie que le llame un taxi - y como no hablamos italiano, significa que tuvimos que hacer nuestro camino a la estación de metro y la parada de autobús. No hubo problema en llegar al bus para el viaje de 4 horas a Sorrento. El cielo estaba azul y sobre todo que teníamos unas vistas espectaculares de la costa y los acantilados. Apenas lo hizo en nuestro hotel, cuando los cielos se abrieron!

Después nos registramos, nos fuimos a la ciudad, compró un paraguas, almorzar y vagó por la ciudad, se fue de regreso al hotel y luego volvió a salir para la cena y continuó vagando bajo la lluvia.

Para parafrasear el viejo dicho: cuando la vida te da limones, tienes que estar en Sorrento. Y, si usted está en Sorrento y la vida te da limones, que hacen Limoncello. Todo en Sorrento es limones, de Limoncello al limón galletas a una gran cantidad de caramelos de limón, jabón de limón y la lista continúa!
