2012.04.20 Friday - Shlepping Around Firenza

The breakfast at our hotel was the usual fare in European hotels - juices, fruits, croissants, breads, cheeses, cold cuts, yogurt, cereals, etc.  After breakfast we got a quick start to the day.  We got to many of the famous sites - the Ponte Vecchio with its gold and silver shops, jewellery shops and the famous passage for the princes; the duomo which is being cleaned - about half finished and looks fantastic in green and white marble, the baptistry, the bell tower, Dante's house, the Orsanmichele Church, the Straw Market, the Piazza della Repubblica, the Palazzo Davanzati, checked out the statues at the Uffizi Gallery, the Palazzo Vecchio, and then to the Accademia to see the statue of David which is 5,16 m tall!  By mid-afternoon, one of Ted's shoes fell apart from being force-marched by Gail.  This by Diana and Apollo I swear to be true!  Okay, maybe the rain contributed to the shoe falling apart.

We had another great meal at "La Mossacce" which was recommended by Frommer's - and probably the least expensive dinner we have had so far on this trip.
