In the afternoon, we caught the bus to the top of Mont Vesuvius. Just as our bus started the climb of many switchbacks, the heavens opened up and the fog set in. The ride itself was quite an experience - big buses passing on a narrow mountain road, stopping and backing up at times! In the deluge! By the time we got to the top of the hill, the Parks Service had closed the trail, so our bus turned around and went back to catch our train. The photo below is a stock photo.
У другій половині дня ми зловили автобус до вершини Mont Везувій. If you have the time, get to the archaeological museum in Naples as this is where are the artifacts from Pompeii wind up. We never made it to Vesuvius either, only in our case it was due to a dockworkers strike holding up traffic. Pompeii certainly gives you a feel for the empire days.
